William Ford Celebrates World Book Day

On Friday 3rd March, pupils and staff came to dressed to school as either their favourite book character or in the pyjamas. Costumes included characters from superhero books, fairy tales and adventure books. Throughout the day each class visited the school library for story time sessions where children discussed their favourite books and made recommendations to their peers. During English lessons, children participated in a range of activities including: writing book reviews, designing new front covers of their favourite books and creating their top 5 list of books, characters and authors. The learning council voted on the most interesting costume and selected two children from each class. Winners will be revealed next week.

Today, we have also launched a sponsored read, where children are sponsored for the amount of time spent reading. This lasts from Friday 3rd March to Friday 10th March. All money raised will be used to buy new books for the school.

Our thoughts of World Book Day

I enjoy World Book Day because it is a day full of imagination, and we get to dress up as our favourite characters. Phoebe 5H

This year I chose to dress up as Miss Rott from the Demon Dentist. This is my favourite book and recommend others to read it. My favourite part of the book is when Gabz is saved by Alfie. We were lucky to go to the theatre before Christmas to watch the play of the Demon Dentist. Eva 4W

I like World Book Day because we learn about new books, also we get a token to go and buy a newly released book to add to our collections. Jaden and Zara 5H

For World Book Day, I decided to come to school in my pyjamas because I like to relax and read my books dressed this way. Ruby 6T
