Discovering the world of Space
Following on from Science week last week, Year 5 were lucky enough to experience what space looks like - up close and personal! We were visited by Explorer Dome where the children crawled into the darkened dome and discovered the worlds that glitter in our night sky. This was a fantastic extension to one of the most inspiring topics. This interactive guide to our local neighbourhood and beyond gave the opportunity for children to ask big questions, explore interests and learn how to spot the constellations in the sky. This brilliant workshop allowed for questions to share interests and explore ideas. It promoted observation, prediction and exploration while also encouraging imagination, creativity and critical thinking. It was lovely to see the smiles on the children faces as they immersed themselves into space. Screams were heard around the school as the children were shown a reenactment of what the Big Bang would have been like. We really do hope the children enjoyed the visit, and we look forward to welcoming Explorer Dome back again.
