Today, William Ford Junior School was alive with festive music and vibrant performances as pupils, staff, and parents came together to celebrate the school’s incredible musical talents. The highlight of the event was a showcase of the iRock School programme, where children form mini rock bands to learn and perform on electric guitars, bass, keyboards, electric drums, and vocals.

Pupils took to the stage with confidence, performing a range of songs for an enthusiastic audience of peers, parents, and governors. This performance marked an important milestone for many children as they embraced the opportunity to develop teamwork, creativity, and stage presence—key elements of our 11 Engaging Experiences Programme, which includes performing to an audience. For some pupils, this was their second performance in just two days, demonstrating their growing confidence and resilience.

The event also featured a heartwarming contribution from our Lighthouse Provision pupils, supported by the school’s talented dance group, who led the audience in a moving song. Their performance showcased the inclusive ethos of our school, celebrating every pupil’s unique talents and fostering a sense of belonging.

The surprise of the day came with The Knowledge Droppers, our newly formed staff band featuring over ten members of staff who performed the much-loved classic "Last Christmas." The grand finale saw the entire school joining in for the final verse, creating an unforgettable moment of unity and festive cheer.

The event underscored the importance of performance as a vehicle for personal growth and community connection. Music and performing arts are integral to our school’s vision, fostering confidence, creativity, and collaboration among pupils and staff alike.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication shown by our pupils, the support from their families, and the enthusiasm of our staff.
