On the 23.2.2023, Year 4 pupils had an exciting opportunity to take part in an Archery workshop experience!
As part of our ongoing History topic, Year 4 pupils have been learning about the Stone Age and Bronze Age, looking at the different materials that they used and the benefits of the different eras. Pupils looked at building materials, cooking materials, as well as hunting and gathering equipment and materials. One of the most effective means of hunting was introduced in the Bronze Age, using a bow and arrow. Year 4 were treated to an archery workshop, from Grey Goose Archery, learning how to hold the bow, aiming techniques, as well as posture. They were also able to participate in a shooting competition. Following this, the instructors showed the pupils their 'long bows', of which the design is comparable to that of which was used during the Bronze Age. The children (and teachers) all thoroughly enjoyed the archery experience and have all expressed their interest in joining an archery club.
Maria in 4W said: " I really liked experiencing holding the bows and shooting, I especially liked holding and feeling the strength of the long bows, that were similar to the ones that were used in the Bronze Age!"
