Today - the 10th of November - was remembrance day (the official remembrance day is the 11th November). The day that we take time to be thankful for those who died in war for our country.  Today we also thank the veterans who are retired soldiers.  The twelve worship council members went to our local church with a memorial (centotaph) with soldiers who died in war for our freedom.  William Ford pupils and pupils from other schools brought a poppy wreath in respect to soldiers.  Poppies are used on remembrance day since they were the first flowers to grow on the WW1 battlefields.   Once we arrived, we listened to ex-soldiers' stories and a poem as well as other people talking about their family members who died as soldiers during WW2.  Afterwards, we had a 1-minute silence to reflect and think about what the soldiers had done for us.  We ended with three prayers which were led by Mr Edwards - the vicar at Dagenham Parish Church.  Overall, today we had a very emotional day and learnt a lot about our country's history and why we should remember fallen soldiers.
