William Ford supports career development in the local community

William Ford supports its local community

At William Ford C of E Junior School, we are committed to ensuring our curriculum not only provides an excellent education but also inspires and supports future career development for our pupils. We are thrilled to have partnered with GSQ Brickwork and the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham BRIC Training Centre on a recent project that perfectly aligns with this vision.

The construction of a new brick planter and seating area in our playground, designed and built by aspiring bricklayers, is a wonderful example of how educational initiatives can benefit both our pupils and the wider community. This project provided hands-on work experience for young people learning the trade, allowing them to develop essential bricklaying skills under the guidance of professionals. The skills they gained—ranging from setting out and applying mortar to pointing and calculating materials—are invaluable for their future careers in construction.

It’s fantastic to see that, through this initiative, we were able to contribute to the career development of local apprentices while enhancing our school environment. The new seating area will be enjoyed by our pupils for years to come, and we are proud to have been part of a project that supports skill development and career inspiration within our community.

We are grateful to GSQ Brickwork, L&Q for the generous donation of bricks, and all those involved in making this project a success. Together, we are helping to build not only physical structures but also the foundations for future careers.
