William Ford Pupils Graduate from Prestigious Scholars Programme at Cambridge University
A group of talented Year Six pupils from William Ford C of E Junior School have successfully completed the Scholars Programme, an enriching academic initiative designed to challenge and inspire young minds. Over the past few months, these pupils have been working alongside a PhD student, delving into the world of engineering and developing their critical thinking and writing skills.
Their project, titled "How Many Engineers Does It Take to Make Ice Cream?", required them to research, analyse, and write a 1,000-word thesis—a remarkable achievement for primary-aged students. The programme has not only enhanced their knowledge but also encouraged them to think ambitiously about their future education and career paths.
To celebrate their hard work, the pupils attended a special graduation ceremony at the University of Cambridge. They had the unique opportunity to explore the prestigious surroundings and tour the university's Computer Science Department, gaining insight into higher education and the possibilities it offers.
We hope this experience will inspire many of our pupils to aim high and consider studying at university in the future. Congratulations to all our young scholars on their outstanding achievement!
