This week Samir in 3F writes about an online visit to a synagogue.
This week in year 3, the pupils visited the Bevis Marks Synagogue through a live stream. We learnt lots about different things such as Jewish festivals, the Rabi, and the community. We found out that the Synagogue is very old because it was built in 1701 and is actually the oldest one in the whole of London. Inside the Synagogue is the Torah, which is the holy book for Jewish people and is shaped like a scroll and written in Hebrew, which is right to left! It is also kept in a special room called the ark. They also use the Synagogue for celebrations like getting married and sometimes for funerals. I really enjoyed joining the live stream and learning more about the Synagogue.
