Summer Two Year Four- How you can support your child at home

English: Encourage your child to learn and practise the songs and script for the end of year performance. English skills with story or challenge game modes can be found here: KS2 English free game - Grammar, spelling and punctuation for primary school pupils - Crystal Explorers - BBC Bitesize Please also ensure that your child is reading for at least 10 minutes each day and talk to them about their book. 

Maths: Ensure that your child is using TTrockstars at home – this should be 15 minutes a day to ensure fluency. Times Tables Rock Stars – Times Tables Rock Stars (ttrockstars.com). Please ask your child's class teacher for their login if they have forgotten. Encourage your child to explain the maths concepts and skills they are learning to you - they could play the role of a teacher. Activities that you can do with your child to improve a range of their maths skills can be found here:  Primary Parents (maths.org) Practice their arithmetic skills to improve speed and accuracy. Science: They will be looking at the circulatory system so to support at home they could measure their heart rate to see how various levels of activity can affect it. History: Research the local area including significant building, events and individuals from the local area. 

Geography: Take a walk in the local area and discuss the buildings. Think about the different types of features that can be seen. Visit local parkland such as Beam Parkland , The Chase Nature Reserve or Eastbrookend Country Park

DT: To support in their come dine with me unit, ask your child to evaluate what they have eaten. Give them the role of a food critic. You could also challenge your child to create a meal with only three ingredients.

Computing: To support your child in computing, visit Turtle Academy and ask your child to design a new logo for school or for them to even make up their very own company logo.
