Dear parents and carers,
What a wonderful week we’ve had, especially with the sun finally making an appearance! It’s been lovely to see the children enjoying the brighter weather during break times and coming into lessons refreshed.
World Book Day Celebration
We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day this year! Our school was alive with creativity and enthusiasm as pupils and staff brought their favourite book characters to life through a brilliant array of costumes. Whether it was a classic literary figure or a modern-day hero, the effort put into each outfit was truly inspiring. A special congratulations goes out to everyone who took part in our special assembly by reading aloud excerpts from their much-loved stories. Your energy and passion for reading shone through, making the day a memorable one for all. We hope you enjoy this gallery showcasing our wonderful celebration!

Year 6 court visits
A particular highlight this week was our Year 6 classes visiting either the Royal Courts of Justice in London or Snaresbrook Crown Court. The pupils were able to deepen their understanding of how the UK justice system works by re-enacting a real crown court case based on a true story, in which a 13-year-old girl was charged with cyberbullying and received a three-month custodial sentence. This stark example served as a powerful reminder to all our pupils about the seriousness of online behaviour and the far-reaching consequences our actions can have. The visit also offered a glimpse into the various careers within the legal system—who knows, we may see some of our own Year 6 pupils pursuing careers in law in the future!
Collective Worship: Focus on empathy
Our Collective Worship theme of peacemakers continued this week, with a specific focus on empathy—showing kindness and understanding to one another. This ties in perfectly with the lessons learnt from the court visits, highlighting how our actions and words (both online and in person) can make a profound difference. We encourage pupils to reflect on Matthew 7:22, remembering that it is not just what we say, but also how we live by the values we profess.
Traffic concerns on Ford Road
Some parents have expressed concerns about recent traffic incidents on Ford Road. Rest assured, the school has taken this extremely seriously. I have been in contact with our local MP, Margaret Mullane, and local councillor, Cllr Philip Waker, who both responded quickly. They are seeking to arrange a meeting involving William Ford, other schools along Ford Road, and the local council to discuss installing School Streets. This initiative would limit the number of vehicles allowed on Ford Road during drop-off and collection times, thereby improving safety for everyone. I will keep you updated on any developments.
I pray you all have a wonderful weekend.
