Dear parents and carers,
Another busy week has come to an end with again, so much to celebrate!
Ford Fest
Firstly, our summer festival held on Tuesday afternoon was a roaring success. It was wonderful to see pupils, staff and parents out in the sunshine enjoying the food, stalls, DJ, choir and inflatables together. The rain also held off! A huge thank you to Mrs. Gladden and the office team for organising such an event and to all the pupils and staff: every year group had been involved in some form of creative activity to raise money for the school. You can read more about Ford Fest below.
I'm an eleven-year-old, get me out of here!
After weeks of singing, learning lines and rehearsals, our immensely talented Year Six debuted their musical masterpiece. And what a performance it was. The audience laughed and cheered with delight as our pupils demonstrated their thespian side and demonstrated to us all how they have grown in confidence over their four years in the school. Thank you to the Year Six team for your hard work supporting the pupils with the production, Mrs Tina Finch for the fantastic props and Mr Howe for being the sound technician.
School reports
Today you would have received a copy of your child's school report. This is an important document and should be read and discussed with your child. I am confident you will find a number of wonderful comments regarding your child's effort, progress and enthusiasm which should be celebrated. There will also be advice and targets to ensure that your child continues to progress, be it at William Ford or at their new secondary school for our Year Six pupils. Year Four pupils will also have received a copy of their Multiplication Tables Check test and Year Six a copy of their SATS results. All pupils will be provided with their attendance certificates and Years 3-5 will have a copy of all of our key dates and events for the next academic year. Should you have any concerns, there is an opportunity to drop into school on Monday to discuss this with the class teacher and also to meet your child's new teacher (Years 3, 4 and 5).

Parents will be aware that we usually mix up the classes at the ned of Year Three and Year Five. Year Five were actually mixed at Christmas hence we have no plans to mix them again. We have also decided not to mix Year Three as we recognise there has been some disruption with 3P this year with a number of different teachers taking this class hence we wish to provide some stability for them.
Now married, Miss Trubshaw will be known as Mrs Freeland. We also welcome Miss Isaac-Wilson to our team, who has experience of William Ford - working alongside Mr. Wakeford this year. We also welcome Mrs Adom who will be supporting some of our SEND children in 'The Learning Zone' that is being built over the summer. Mrs Adom joins us from Valance Primary School within the borough.
Sadly, we do have some goodbyes to share. After many years at William Ford, we are saying goodbye to Mr. Harrington who is retiring from teaching. Mr Harrington has led our school football team and has been integral to the school as a governor, supporting French across the school (including our French trips) and running our football team. Mr. Harrington is actually hoping to continue as a governor and to lead our football team in a voluntary capacity for which I am extremely grateful. He has also agreed to attend upcoming French trips (as I do not speak French, this is a huge relief to me!) so pupils will still see him regularly across the school. We are also saying goodbye to Mrs. Norman who is seeking some experience teaching in KS1 at a school in neighbouring Redbridge. Mrs Norman has worked for a number of years at William Ford and, in addition to her class teaching, has supported pupils in creating podcasts during lockdown which inspired our idea of a school radio station. I am sure you would all like to join me in thanking these members of staff and assuring them of our prayers and best wishes for their future.
Two important letters
Please see below for two important letters. On Weis from Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, regarding free school meals for ALL William Ford pupils next year and the other is from the local NHS trust board regarding increased cases of measles within the local area and the importance of the MMR vaccine to keep your child and the whole William Ford school community safe.
I pray you all have a wonderful weekend.
Mr. David Huntingford
