Dear parents and carers,
Trewern Year Six residential
Welcome back to all Year Six pupils who attended our residential. For the past five days, these pupils have staying in the middle of the countryside on the English/Welsh border - surrounded by the Black Mountains and the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons). During this excursion they have embarked upon mountain hiking, caving and gorge walking along with enjoying God's wonderful creation (and quite a variety of different weather too)! Whilst these will undoubtedly create life-long memories, more importantly are the skills of independence, organisation and 'surviving' away from home. From making their own beds to serving food; organising their own clothes to managing home sickness, these are all important aspects of growing up and facets of a well-rounded education.
It was a privilege to be able to travel down to Trewern on Wednesday to witness first hand these wonderful experiences, but I was incredibly tired by the end of it! I cannot imagine how tired the staff who spent all week there must be feeling. A huge thank you to Miss Ibukun, Mrs Freeland, Mrs Baxter, Mrs Rivers and Mr Buckingham, without whose commitment, such memorable and valuable experiences would not be possible.

Year Five pupils and parents, we have already made a provisional booking for next year and will release those details soon.
Year Six @ William Ford
The pupils who remained at William Ford spent the week working in small groups to complete a project about the palaeontologist Mary Anning. This included internet research as well as completing watercolour pictures and making models of fossils. Once this work was completed, the children had the opportunity to produce some work as part of our celebration of diversity month. They also had a football tournament in their P.E. lessons.
UK Day - Year Five
Year Five was awash of red, white and blue as, linked to their current geography unit, the pupils enjoyed UK day. Throughout the day, many activities were undertaken to celebrate our country and the pupils did a fantastic job dressing up in the colours of the Union Jack flag.
Inspiring Futures Young Creative Makerspace 2023
15 lucky Year Four pupils attended this event where they considered what makes a good cultural leader as well as learning about the importance of cultural education (music, art, dance etc). As well as enjoying some delicious food, pupils worked with other schools and with Ideate Education artists to produce an immersive Makerspace event that delves into the intricacies of leadership development. Inspired by the analogy of an orchestra! This event is being followed up with an educational professionals event within two weeks where the outcome of this event will be shared. Do view the pupils' musical performance here: Year Four Cultural leadership conference. - YouTube
I pray you all have a wonderful weekend.
